Operation Backpack 2013

As most parents are preparing for their back-to-school shopping, they are thinking about what their children need in the new school year.

At ArcelorMittal Hamilton East, they are doing the same; the only difference is they are thinking about the children living in the inner-city of Hamilton.

St. Matthew’s House has been renovating the Food Bank space at our 414 Barton Street East location to better meet the needs of individuals and families that are living in poverty in downtown Hamilton. The renovation is now complete and has been open for business since just before Christmas. However, given the busy Christmas season we have not done a formal re-opening.

On Friday February 1, 2013 at 1 pm, Mayor Bob Bratina will be formally reopening the Food Bank. As a key community partner for St. Matthew’s House, I would like to invite you to attend the formal re-opening of this site. In addition to Mayor Bratina, we are inviting members of the Board of Directors and community members (partners and corporate donors) as we celebrate this special rededication. This is an excellent opportunity to meet and mingle with local dignitaries, members of the Board of Directors of St. Matthew’s House and other community funders.

In order to assist us with planning, it would be appreciated if you could RSVP via email to admin@stmatthewshouse.ca or contact Patricia LeBlanc at 905 523 5546 ext. 221 by Tuesday January 29. We look forward to having you celebrate this new beginning with us.
