Programs

Emergency Food and Practical Assistance – Our two food banks provide three days of emergency food once a month to individuals and families who have exhausted their resources.  Staff provide practical assistance with problem solving, access to helpful information and community resources.

 

Day Care – The Children’s Centre provides day care for 42 children and includes subsidized spaces. The Centre fosters positive child development through active learning in a welcoming, stable, and inclusive environment.

 

Early Childhood Integration Support Services (ECISS) – The program serves preschool children with special needs who are enrolled in child care centres in the City of Hamilton. Children with special needs have an excellent opportunity to play, grow and learn in a social environment with their peers.

 

Home2Stay – The Home2Stay program assists individuals 55 years of age and older, who are homeless, to find safe, sustainable housing.

 

Seniors DROP-IN – The program at 412 Barton Street offers a casual space for seniors to gather, socialize, and have a meal. The Centre provides light breakfast and lunch Monday-Friday.

 

Roxborough Senior Centre – The Program at 785 Brittania Avenue is open three days a week and provides space for social and recreational programs.  Activities include games, fitness and strength training, speaker events and pot luck lunches.

 

Mental Health Outreach – An outreach worker provides support and links to services for adults living with mental illness on the street or in unstable housing.

 

Transitional Housing – St. Matthews House provides shared housing for seven men who are at risk of homelessness and are seeking permanent housing.

 

Christmas Adopt-A-Family Program – The program provides new toys, gifts, holiday meals and other household goods to thousands of people in Hamilton each year. Individuals, community groups, school classes and businesses can sponsor a child or a family.

 

Summer Camp Program – Our summer camp program offers both overnight and day camp sessions for children from Hamilton who otherwise would not go to camp due to family or financial situations. Subsidies are supported through our donor base.

 

Income Tax Assistance – Income Tax Clinics are provided each year in March and April for families, individuals and seniors.  These free clinics are provided for those who qualify based on their income levels.
