Christmas Programs

2015 Adopt-a-Family Program

For many decades, St. Matthew’s House has been providing Christmas hampers to thousands of people in our community.  Thanks to generous support from our donors, the Christmas Adopt-A-Family and Adopt-a-Senior Programs provide new toys/gifts, clothing and  grocery store gift cards to families and seniors in the area.

You/your group can shop for a Christmas Gift Basket. As a suggested guideline, you can sponsor a family of four for approximately $225: $75 for a grocery store gift card, $75 for each child’s gift and clothing item.

You can Adopt-a-Senior for approximately $75: $25 for a grocery store gift card, $50 for an item on the senior’s wish list.

To pair up with a specific family/senior please call 905-523-5546, Ext. 260.

  • Grocery Store Gift Cards – a gift card from a local grocery store will allow our families to purchase all the ingredients for a festive meal. We suggest $75 for a family of four, $100 for families of 5 or 6, $125 for families with 7 plus people or $25 for one senior.
  • Toys (NEW and UNWRAPPED) – children’s toys of all age groups are welcome. Teenagers and seniors are harder to buy for so we encourage our sponsors to purchase gift cards for places like Walmart, Sport Chek, Ardene, EB Games, Shoppers Drug Mart, Cineplex Odeon or the mall, so they can purchase the gift they will enjoy.
  • Clothes – new clothing for kids of all ages are welcome.  For our seniors we recommend hats, gloves, winter scarves and other warm clothing.
